Bellfield Resource Centre, Middlesex Road, Hull

Kinetic Concepts were recently awarded the contract to refurbish the reception area at The Bellfield Resource Centre.

The centre is a multi use building providing much needed support for the residents of Hull. Its three primary functions are:

  • Assistance for disabled children, including respite care to enable parents and carers the opportunity to have some time and space for themselves.
  • Occupational Therapy Service working with physically disabled people and carers to help them overcome the everyday problems in their daily living, and help to maintain their independence.
  • Elderly Day Centre assisting elderly citizens to maintain links within the community and avoid isolation. Working closely with health, housing and other services, occupational therapy staff will offer information, advice and practical solutions.

The Hull City Council Architectural Technologist for the project Mr Geoff Weaver, prepared the initial design for the reception counter, specifying the materials, size etc. Kinetic then developed the initial concept into a working drawing and after approval, manufactured the counter and associated desks and workplaces.

The material chosen was a combination of solid and veneered ash complimented with toughened glass and stainless steel fittings to give a modern airy feeling to the reception area.

The programming of the installation was extremely important, as the centre was unable to close to allow the works to proceed.

From approval of the drawings to installation was an unbelievable 3 weeks!!

Mr Weaver of Hull City Council’s architectural department, ‘Hull Property’ commented: “The client was extremely pleased with the counter and desks, and I was very pleased with the input of Kinetic Concepts.”
